End of Term One

Well, Lit Clubbers, we have survived Term One and have encountered quite a few books we may not have chosen to read, left to our own devices.
Let us know what you enjoyed this term and what you would like to study next term.  I have some ideas but would like input from the rest of the group. Remember, if you don't put forward a suggestion - you don't have a say in what we look at next!
Miss Zeitheim and I have a good idea who we will be sending to the Kid's Lit Quiz in week 2 so study over the hols - it could be you!

  1. Yay! I'm the first to comment again!

Wooh! Lit quiz is already in week 2 of next term. I thought we had ages!!!! OK, my favourite book study this term was probably mystery/horror/fantasy but thats kinda because I like reading those types of books. I do find its a good idea to be reading stories that you would never read, and then get to read award winning books in the holidays! I think next term we should focus on the quizes and maybe do research on famous authors or look at the past quiz questions and see what the lit club hasn't covered.

Can't wait to see what we're doing next term!!

    Nick :) :)

  2. Hi Nick, I guessed you would be first. Next term we will be running Lit Club differently, but you'll find out about that in May :)
We will be looking at previous quizzes - and what do you think the ones we have done are!!! I suppose we will have to cram hard in the first two weeks back,so let's see who's up to the task.
Enjoy reading your Award winner - I'll be reading five to report back on. If you want more - let me know on the blog and I'll get in touch. I still have a bag full..

  5. Well, I'm the same as Ashleigh, at the momment I don't like my book. It is sooo boring (in my point of view!) It's kind of like a story told by someone in side the story. My book is called Genesis by Bernard Beckett, and this girl named Anaximander is going through this type of test and her subject is about the life of Adam Forde and this whole story is set in 2075. I'm about half way, and it's not getting interesting. Anyway, I'll have to wait and see. The review on the front said it was "highly orginal, this remarkable thriller fuses intricate ideas with real emotion and suspence. It gripped my like a vice." It hope it will get better!!

  6. Hi there,
Charlotte - I still have a bag full of books. If you want me to drop one off to you ring me at home. I pass your mailbox almost every day!
Ashleigh and Nick - If you don't like your books, STOP reading them! I can give you others or suggest some. I have finished my book (the latest by Jean Auel) and was disappointed. It was nowhere near as good as the rest of the series.
I hope you get some good reading done, but remember to help your parents too :)
    Happy Easter

  8. Good on you Nick,Perseverence is a virtue you have in bucket loads. Please write a short review when you have finished and post it on the library website. It is good to have lots of peoples' perspectives and it is a good thing we don't all enjoy the same sort of books :)

  14. hi guys
nick you are always the first to comment!
I really enjoyed guardian of the dead
    here is my summary:
Napier is just a memoryt for Ellie Spencer, just a memory untill Mark Nolan awakens her powers and uncovers her hidden path. Ellie has to fight on behalf of the whole north island against Marks former people; the patupaiarehe( i dont know how to say it but this the correct spelling)They are planning to get immortally by killing everyone on the North islan so the Guardian of the dead is to busy dealling with all the deaths. They plan to kill the only people that can stop them first, magicians.
That is my summary of it not my review
    here is my review:
The Guardian of the dead is a moving, tragic story. Loss and heart break rule it. What most people think are myths are actully history. making this story exciting and a hard book to put down.

  16. wooh! Good summary, and amazing review. Agree, with ashymashy! When will we find out? I'll work on my review tonight. I don't really know how to put it because the start was SO BORING, but the end it good a tad bit better and to put some action into it, the author killed the main character! The book made no sense!

    Anyway, I'll sort something out.

    See you all this morning!

    Nick
