Literary Awards

Who's ready for the challenge? During the next week we will all be researching who have been the recipients of awards for the last five years.
I will make it interesting by having a 'Lucky Dip' for the award and another ' Lucky Dip'  for a neatly finished concise report. You will have to do some work on your own, but I will have computers available at school in our sessions.
I'm looking forward to it. How about you?

  1. Wow! This seems like a really good idea. I wonder how many awards there are? I wonder which award I would get. I just don't get the other lucky dip for the concise report? What's that?! Any way, I'm excited what research I'll come up with!

  2. The lucky dip for the report is a reward! What will be in the bag is a surprise!!! I thought a wee incentive may encourage some people to put more effort into their work.... I'll just have to see if anyone can meet the criteria.

I agree that it is interesting to research something you have no idea about and it is amazing what you will find out.
Keep up the good work my friends.

  6. I think it is a good idea to have a lucky dip for the best reports, if we're finished could we do an award of our choice?
I found out heaps of info on the New Zealand post award- Junior fiction, Joy Cowley won twice in the past five years and the winner of 2009 is a finilist for this year. I didnt get the book awards but now i realise that lots of hopeful writers enter each year but only the winner gets $7500. Thats heaps of money for writing a book plus you get all the money from publishing it and as the auther you become famous, im really considering being an auther as a career.

  8. Yep, it is *nice* what ever you mean by it. I never knew there was such thing as the Esther Glen Award, remember to use capitals next time Ashleigh. I think that this is a good way to teach children about the Book Awards.
This is great fun (like ashleigh said)

  9. Of course you may research an award of your choice. The more, the merrier, as the saying goes. I am pleased to find you wanting to go over and above the required minimum. That is a good work ethic to learn :)
I have a cool quiz for Wednesday if we get all the reports done in time. - it even relates to the awards in a way...
