Term 4 is a time to recap

This Term we will be doing a bit more reading of your own choice, looking at magazines and Newspapers and doing some quizzes.
Please bring in a magazine you enjoy reading- anything at all, but remember you will be justifying your choice :)

Culture Shock

I hope you were all watching the news today as there were some good articles on culture all relating to the Rugby World Cup.
They would have provided some good clues to you all :)
I guess by now you will all be into your novels and starting to make your  mind up as to the cultural differences you are finding. I hope to meet with you tomorrow, so let me know if you need help.

Term 3 is all about research

By now you will have noticed that Term 3 is all about research. The work is getting harder, but just think how well prepared you will be for High School and the Kid's Lit Quiz next year!
I am impressed with how well most of the group are performing and I hope you are enjoying the challenge.
Next week we are going to be looking at novels that focus on a different culture, so if you have any you think may be of interest, bring them along. Extra points for books that fit the criteria.
I am looking forward to visiting Compass FM on Sunday, so let's get some reviews done and you never know, you may be on air next week...

Ready for Term 3?

I have missed you this term, but hopefully we will be back to Lit Club in Term 3. I think we'll be doing a lot more research for the next 9 weeks, so get your analytical brain in order and once again the Lucky Dip comes into play!

End of Term One

Well, Lit Clubbers, we have survived Term One and have encountered quite a few books we may not have chosen to read, left to our own devices.
Let us know what you enjoyed this term and what you would like to study next term.  I have some ideas but would like input from the rest of the group. Remember, if you don't put forward a suggestion - you don't have a say in what we look at next!
Miss Zeitheim and I have a good idea who we will be sending to the Kid's Lit Quiz in week 2 so study over the hols - it could be you!

My Favourite Book :)

This week I would like you to write a review on your favourite book. It can be any sort of book and from any genre - even from your junior days.

Literary Awards

Who's ready for the challenge? During the next week we will all be researching who have been the recipients of awards for the last five years.
I will make it interesting by having a 'Lucky Dip' for the award and another ' Lucky Dip'  for a neatly finished concise report. You will have to do some work on your own, but I will have computers available at school in our sessions.
I'm looking forward to it. How about you?

What have you read lately?

I have read 25 books over the holidays. The best one was The Road to Paradise by Paulina Simmons. It was about a couple of girls going on a roadtrip across America.
